Genesis Chapter 16

1 Now Sarai, Abram's wife bare him no children: and she had an Egyptian servant, whose name was Hagar.
2 And Sarai said to Abram, Behold, the LORD hath restrained me from giving birth; Take, for my servant; perhaps I will have her children. And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.
3 So he took Sarai, Abram's wife, Hagar the Egyptian, her handmaid, and gave her in marriage to her husband Abram, after ten years that Abram dwelt in the land of Canaã.4 And it unto Hagar, and she conceived ; and seeing she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.
5 Then Sarai said to Abram, My wrong be upon thee; I put my maid into thy bosom; she now seeing conceived, I was despised in her eyes; the LORD judge between me and thee.
6 But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thine hand; do to him what is good in thy sight. And Sarai afflicted her, and she fled from her face.
7 And the angel of Jehovah found her near a source of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
8 And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, where you come from, and where are you going? And I said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.
9 Then said the LORD Angel: Makes Return to thy mistress, and submit yourself under her hands.
10 I said to him the angel of Jehovah: greatly multiply thy seed, that will not be numbered for multitude will be.

12 And he will be a wild man, and his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him; and dwell on the face of all his brethren.
13 And she called the name of Jehovah that spake unto her, Thou art God who sees me; because I said I did not look well for him that seeth me?
14 So the name of that well of Beer Lahai Roi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Berede.15 And Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram called the name of his son that Hagar bare, Ishmael.
16 And Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael.

I KINGS 19

5 And he lay down and slept under a juniper tree; and, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.

11 And God said to him: Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake;
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.

I KINGS 18

30 And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near to me. And all the people came near to him; and restored the Lord's altar, which was broken.
31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom came the word of the LORD, saying, Israel shall be thy name.
32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD; he made a trench about the altar, according to the breadth of two measures of seed.
33 And he put the wood, and cut the bullock in pieces, and put it on the wood.
34 And I said: Fill four barrels of water, and pour it on the burnt offering and on the wood. And I said, Do it the second time; And they did it the second time. He said, Do it the third time; And they did it the third time;
35 And the water ran around the altar; and the trench he filled with water.
36 It happened at the time of being offered the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, be known this day that thou art God in Israel and that I am thy servant, and that according to thy word I have done all these things.
37 Hear me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast return your heart.
38 Then fell fire from the LORD, and consumed the burnt offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
39 What all the people saw, they fell on their faces, and they said, The LORD is God! The Lord alone is God!

I Corinthians 8

1 Now concerning things sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.
2 And if anyone thinks that he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know.
3 But if anyone loves God, this is known dele.4 As concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no God but one.
5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords)
6 But to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things and for whom we live; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we by ele.7 But not in all knowledge; because some until now eat it as a custom towards the idol, sacrificed to the idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
8 But meat does not commend us to God, because, if we eat, we have nothing more and if we do not eat are we the worse.
9 But see that this freedom is not somehow stumbling block to the weak.
10 For if a man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of what is weak be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?
11 And through thy knowledge the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died.
12 Thus, sinning against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
13 So, if meat scandalize my brother, I will never eat meat, so my brother does not offend.

I CORINTHIANS 10

23 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.
24 Let no one seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no question for conscience sake.
26 For the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof.
27 And if any of you infidels invite, and you wish to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no question for conscience sake.
28 But if anyone says to you, This is offered in sacrifice, eat not, for his sake that told you, and for conscience sake; for the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof.
29 But I say conscience, not your own, but of the other. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?

I CORINTHIANS 4

1 WHAT men consider us as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in poder.21 What will ye? I will come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of meekness?

19 This he said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And with that said unto him, Follow me.
20 Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved, and who also leaned at supper on his breast, and said: Lord, who is it that will betray you?
21 Peter seeing him, said to Jesus: Lord, and what shall this man?
22 Jesus said to him: If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me.
23 is disclosed-because, among brothers said this, that that disciple should not die. But Jesus did not tell him that would not die, but: If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?
24 This is the disciple who testifies to these things and wrote; and we know that his testimony is true.
25 But there are also many other things which Jesus did, and each of which were written down, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

I CORINTHIANS 13

1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I like sounding brass or as the bell tine.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3 If I give all I possess to the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient and is kind; love is not envious; love does not trifle with, is not puffed up.
5 Do not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails; but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there is knowledge, it will disappear; 9 for in part we know, and we prophesy in part;
10 But when that which is perfect, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face; Now I know in part, but then shall I know even as I am known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope and charity, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1 Peter4

1 Now then, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with this thought, he that hath suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;
2 For in the time I have left you in the flesh, ye may live no more after the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3 Because it is enough that last life time we did the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, lusts, carousing, drunkenness, and abominable idolatries;
4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you.

6 For this cause was the gospel preached also to the dead, so that in fact they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in spirit;
7 And is near the end of all things; therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
8 And above all things have fervent love for each other; because love covers a multitude of sins.
9 Being hospitable to one another without grumbling,
10 Each manage to others the gift he has received, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.11 If any man speak, speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, according to the power that God gives; that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. amen

NUMBERS CHAPTER 22

 And the children of Israel departed, and encamped in the plains of Moab beyond the Jordan at Jericho.

6 Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people, for it is more powerful than me; perhaps it can hurt and launch off the ground; because I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.
7 And the elders of Moab and went and the elders of Midian with the price of divination in their hands; and they came to Balaam and told him the words of Balak.
8 And he said unto them, Lodge here tonight, and I will bring you word again, as the Lord had me speak; and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.
9 And God came unto Balaam, and said, Who are these men who are you?
10 And Balaam said to God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, sent them, saying:
11 Behold, the people come out of Egypt covers the face of the earth; come now, curse me them; perhaps I can fight against them and drive them out.
12 And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them, not curse the people, for they are blessed.
13 And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak to your land, for Jehovah refuses to let me go convosco.14 And they rose up the princes of Moab, and came to Balak, and said, Balaam He refused to come with us.
15 But Balak again sent more princes, more honorable than they.
16 And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus says Balak the son of Zippor, I pray you, do not delay to come to me.
17 For great honor you, and will do whatever you tell me; come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.
18 And Balaam answered and said to Balak's servants, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can not go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more;
19 Now therefore, I pray you also here this night, that I may know what the Lord will tell me.
20 Then came God to Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, go with them; however, I shall do what I tell you.
21 And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.
22 And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of Jehovah put to him in the way for an adversary; and he was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.
23 See, therefore the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand; for what turned up the ass the way, went into the field; and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.
24 But the angel of Jehovah stood in a narrow path between the vineyards, with a wall of one and the other lado.25 Seeing therefore the ass, the angel of Jehovah, leaned against the wall, and pressed against the wall Balaam's foot; so it has to beat her.
26 And the angel of Yahweh went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right or to the left.
27 And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.
28 Then the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said to Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?
29 And Balaam said to the ass, Because thou hast mocked me; I wish I had a sword in my hand, for now would I kill thee.
30 And the ass said to Balaam, Am I not your ass, upon which you have ridden from the time that I was thine to this day? Accident has been my custom to do so with you? And he answered: No.
31 Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of Yahweh, who was on the way and his sword drawn in his hand; and he bowed his head, and fell on his face.
32 And the angel of Jehovah said unto him, Why these three times struck your donkey? Behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me:
33 And the ass saw me, and already three times turned aside before me; if it does not depart from before me, surely now I would have killed you, and saved her alive.
34 Balaam said to the angel of Yahweh, I have sinned, because we did not know were this way you opores to me; and now, if it seem evil unto thee, come back.
35 And the LORD said Angel Balaam, Go with the men; but only the word that I speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balaque.36 Now when Balak that Balaam was coming, went to meet him to a city of Moab, which is on Arnon term, at the end of his term.
37 And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly calling you? Why did not you come to me? Can not I actually honor you?
38 Balaam said to Balak, Behold, I have come to you; perhaps can you now somehow say something? The word that God puts in my mouth, that shall I speak.
39 And Balaam went with Balak, and they came unto Kirjathhuzoth.
40 And Balak offered oxen and sheep; and sent to Balaam and the princes who were with him.
41 And it came to pass in the morning Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, and he saw from there the latter part of the people.
