MATTHEW 18

8 Therefore, the works of your hand or your steps scandalized you, cut off them, and cast them from thee; is better for thee to enter into life without wealth, without facilities in achievements, rather than having two hands or two feet to be called a thief or evildoer and live in a real hell and the guilty conscience.
9 thine eye be a scandal, pay attention and know that the world has two views, one good and the other evil better for you to enter into life with one eye, than having two, being called a criminal and live a living hell that is the weight of consciousness.

Evangelho

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen by them; otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say they have received their reward.
  But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand does;
 That thy alms may be in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
  And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Verily I say they have received their reward.
  But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
  And in praying do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles, who think they will be heard for their much speaking.
  Do not you therefore like to them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
  Therefore, you should pray: Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as in heaven;
  The our daily bread Give us this day;
  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil; For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
  For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will forgive you;
  But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
  And when you fast, not to show yourself as the hypocrites; for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say they have received their reward.
  But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
  Appear not to men that you are fasting, but to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Do not lay up treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break through and steal;
  But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
  For where your treasure is, there will your heart
  The lamp body is the eye; so that, if thine eye be single, thy whole body will be light;
  But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You can not serve God and mammon.
  Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
  Behold the fowls of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
  And which of you by with all his thought can add one cubit to his stature?
  And, about clothing, why do you walk solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; neither toil nor spin;
  And I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
  But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, will not wear you much more you, O ye of little faith?
  Go not therefore anxious, saying, What shall we eat, or who shall drink, or we be clothed?
  (For after all these things the Gentiles seek). For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things;
  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added.
 No thought because, for tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

psalm 107

Praise ye the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
  Let the redeemed of the Lord, whom he hath redeemed from the enemy's hand,
  Those who gathered the lands of the east and west, north and south.
  They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
  Hungry and thirsty, their soul in them desfalecia.6 And they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their difficulties.
  And he led them by the right way, we might go to a city of habitation.
  Praise the LORD for his goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men.
  Because he got fed the thirsty soul and filled the hungry soul of goods.
  Such as sit in darkness and the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;
  Because they rebelled against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most High.
  So he brought down their heart with labor; They stumbled, and there was none to help them.
  They cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their difficulties.
  He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death; and broke their prisons.
  Praise the LORD for his goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men.
  For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of ferro.17 Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.
  Their soul abhorred all food, and came to the gates of death.
  They cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
  He sent his word and healed them; and delivered them from their destructions.
  Praise the LORD for his goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men.
 And let the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.
 They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters.
  These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.
  For it commandeth, and raises the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves.
 Ascend to heaven; go down to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.
  Walk and stagger like a drunk, and lost all tino.28 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble; and brought them out of their difficulties.
  He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof.
  Then are they glad because they be quiet; so bringeth them to their desired haven.
  Praise the LORD for his goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men.
  Exalt him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
  He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the springs into dry ground;
  A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
  He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into springs.
  And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, to build up a city for habitation;
  And sow the fields and plant vineyards, which yield fruits of increase.
  Also blesses them, so that they are multiplied greatly; and his cattle not diminui.39 Then they fall toward slaughter, oppression, and grief and sorrow.
  Pours contempt upon princes and makes them wander in the wilderness where there is no path.
  However deliver the needy from oppression, in a high place, and multiplies families like a flock.
  The righteous shall see, and shall rejoice, and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
  Who is wise will observe these things, and they will understand the mercies of the Lord.

CHAPTER 9 The covenant that God made with Noah

And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth.
  And the fear of you and the dread of you shall come upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air; everything that moves on the earth, and all the fish of the sea, into your hand are they delivered.
Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; all I have given you as verde.4 herb But flesh with its life, that is, its blood, you shall not eat.
 Surely I require your blood, the blood of your lives; the hand of every beast will I require; as well as the hand of man, and of his brother's hand each require the life of man. Whoever sheds man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed; for God made man in his own image.
  But ye fruitful and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.
  And God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying:
 And, behold, I establish my covenant with you and with your seed after you.
  And with every living creature that is with you, birds, cattle, and the entire land animal with you; with all that came out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
  And I establish my covenant with you, which will no longer be destroyed all flesh by the flood waters, and that there will be no flood to destroy the earth.
  And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you, and between every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations.
  The I set my rainbow in the clouds; this shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
  And it shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, the bow appears in the clouds.

Solomon prays to God I Kings 8

And now, O God of Israel, let it be your word you said to your servant David my father.
  But in God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens can not contain thee, how much less this house that I have built.
  Volve you therefore to the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and the prayer which thy servant prays before thee.
  That thine eyes may be open night and day toward this house, this place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there; to hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall pray in this place.
 Hear thou therefore the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they pray toward this place; and hear thou in thy dwelling place in heaven; hear, forgive.
 If any man trespass against his neighbor, and they put on him oath of cursing, making him swear, and the oath come before thine altar in this house,
  Then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his own head, and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

PSALM 139

Lord, You have searched me and known me.
  You know when I sit and when I rise; by far understand my thought.
 Fences my going out and my lying down; and art acquainted with all my ways.
 There is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, You know it. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; so high that I can not attain.
  Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy face?
  If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there; if you in hell my bed, behold, thou art there.
 If I take the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the edges of the sea,
  Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
  If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
  Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: darkness and light are the same thing for you;
  For you created my inmost; knit me in my mother's womb.
  I praise you because of a fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
  My frame was not hidden, as in the occult was made, and woven together in the depths of terra.16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; and in thy book all my members were written; which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17 How precious to me are, O God, your thoughts! How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand; when awake, I am still with you.
19 O God, you certainly kill the wicked; be ye therefore from me, you bloodthirsty men.
20 For they speak against you wickedly; and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate you, and not grieve because of that rise up against thee?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them mine enemies.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts.
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

The Prophet's Book JONAS

And word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying:
  Arise, go to Nineveh, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
  But Jonah rose up to flee the presence of the LORD to Tarshish. And down to Joppa, he found a ship going to Tarshish; paid therefore its passage, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the Lord.
  But the Lord sent a great wind into the sea, and there was a heavy storm at sea, and the ship was about to quebrar-se.no ship, to lighten its weight; But Jonah had gone down into the hold of the ship, and he lay, and was fast asleep.
 And the shipmaster came up to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, sleeper? Arise, call upon thy God; so maybe he will think upon us that we perish not.
  And they said every one to his fellow, Come, and let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us. And they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah.
  Then they told him: Declare unto us pray thee, for whose cause this evil is upon us. What is your occupation? Where have you come? What do you land? And what people art thou?
  He said to them: I am a Hebrew, and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.
  Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, Why hast thou done this? For the men knew that he fled from the presence of Yahweh, because he had told them.
  And they said unto him, What shall we thee, that the sea may be calm? Because the sea was becoming increasingly stormy.
  And he said unto them, Take me up and throw me into the sea, and the sea be calm unto you: because I know that for my sake this great tempest you.
  However, the men rowed, to turn the ship to land, but they could not: for the sea grew embravecendo increasingly against them.
  They cried unto the LORD, and said, Oh, Lord! We beseech thee, that not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood; for thou, LORD, hast done as it pleased thee.
  So they took up Jonah, and cast him into the sea, and the sea ceased from its fúria.16 feared, for these men to the Lord with great fear; and offered sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.
  He has therefore prepared the Lord prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah; And Jonah was three days and three nights in the fish's belly.

  Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God out of the fish's belly.
  And I said: In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me; the belly of hell cried I, and you heard my voice.
  For thou hast cast me into the deep, in the heart of the seas, and the floods surrounded me; all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
  And I said, I am cast out of thy sight; but I will look again toward thy holy temple.
  The waters surrounded me to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the land ended me forever with her bars; but you brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
  When fainted within me my soul, I remembered the LORD; and came in unto thee I pray in your holy temple.
  They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
  But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; which voted pay. The Lord is salvation. Spake the Lord to fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
  LORD came unto the word Jonah the second time, saying:
  Arise, and go to Nineveh and preach against it the message that I tell you.
 And Jonas arose, and went to Nineveh according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey. And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried and said: Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.
  So the people of Nineveh believed God; and proclaimed a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the smallest.
  This word came unto the king of Nineveh; and he rose from his throne, and took his garments, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
  And it caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the king and his lords decree, saying, Let neither man nor beast, neither cattle nor sheep, taste any thing, nor let them not feed, nor drink water;
  But man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God, and let them turn every one from his evil way and from the violence that is in their hands.
  Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and make the turn from his fierce anger, so that we perish not?
  And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil which he announced would do to them, and did not.

  BUT it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry.
  And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, Ah! MR! It was not this my saying, still in my country? That's why I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and of great kindness, and repentest from evil.
  I pray thee, O LORD, take my life, because it is better for me to die than to live.
  And the Lord said: You do well to be angry as well?
  So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east; and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shade, to see what would happen to the city.
  And did the LORD God prepared a gourd, and it come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief; and Jonas was exceeding glad for the gourd.
  But God prepared a worm, the day after ascending of the dawn, which smote the gourd, and it withered.
  It happened, when the sun arose, God prepared a sultry east wind, and the sun struck the head of Jonas; and he fainted, and wished with all his soul to die, saying, is better for me to die than to live.
  God said to Jonah: You do well to be angry for the gourd? And I said, I do well to be angry to death.
 And the LORD said, thou hast had pity on the gourd, which not labored, neither didst grow, which was born in a night and perished in a night;
  And should not I have compassion on Nineveh where they are over one hundred and twenty thousand men that can not discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much cattle?
